Dayton Power was brought onto this project with electrical roughly 10% complete, inheriting an active build with a fixed ship-out date. Working alongside Sonic Enclosures, Hagler Group and GN2 Engineering on site in Chilliwack, BC, we brought the project to completion, executed the work to Suncor specifications through multiple formal client walkthroughs, and had all redline drawings submitted and accepted before the unit shipped to Fort McMurray.
A complete E-House for a tailings dredge
Our scope was the electrical construction of a new modular E-House built for Suncor Energy’s tailings pond dredge unit: a complete electrical and hydraulic pump building.
Electrical scope
The high-voltage scope included the 12.5kV roof-mounted oil-filled transformer, VFD and switchgear. From there: roughly 700 digital and analog interconnects to the customer-supplied PLC cabinet and MCC lineup, 600V panels, 120/208V panels, 225kVA transformers, 12VDC panels, a roof-mounted standby generator, HVAC equipment, instrumentation devices and full power distribution throughout. Cable tray was constructed and installed through the entire building.
Fast-track, design-build, on time
Engineered drawings were issued on a rolling basis throughout construction, so the team worked in parallel with the engineering and consulting teams in a fast-track design-build environment. The ship-out deadline was met as required. Drawings were continuously redlined and maintained in Bluebeam, and the final redline package received direct recognition from the engineering team for its accuracy and completeness: described as near-turnkey, ready to transpose directly into their engineering software.
This project reflects our ability to perform complex industrial electrical construction under demanding timelines, in remote locations, and in close collaboration with owner representatives, engineers and prime contractors.
